This new technology will cut the fuel consumption to almost half and make ships 100% eco-friendly
What is it?
The newly built m/s Eeva VG has been coated with Ecospeed which finalised at the end of January. Meriaura Group owns energy efficient dry cargo ships and the coated ship is the first of two to get the treatment.
According to Company, they will be operating in the Baltic region. So it will not be possible that we will see them delivering sea cargo to Pakistan , China, or any other country in the region, anywhere in the near future.
What kind of ships are they?
Both of these ships are known as VG EcoCoasters. As compared to conventional dry cargo ships, they are designed in such a way that their harmful impact on the environment will be considerably less.
They will cut the emissions down to a remarkable figure that no other ship could do, and their design was aimed at halving the fuel consumption from all those similar size and type of cargo ships that are being used in the sea cargo industry.
What is Ecospeed?
Ecospeed is a newly developed ship hull coating system which is, thankfully, 100% environment safe and it perfectly ties with VG EcoCoasters’ new design. There is another distinct feature of this underwater hull coating system is that, instead of degrading after repeated cleanings, rather it gradually improves. Thanks to the technical properties of this coating, this procedure is made easy. So now the cleaning can be done at any time and anywhere needed without the fear of any sort of damage.
According to the company, both of these dry cargo ships will be operational by the end of this year. And with the help of these vessels, the Meriaura Group is so determined to make a positive impact in the shipping industry. Subsea Industries has also taken part in this project and they proudly state that since 2000, they also have been pursuing similar goal.
